
Baby prep 101
Baby Prep 101 has been curated with you, the expecting parent(s) in mind. If there’s one thing we know for sure it’s that while we can’t control how everything unfolds, we can certainly prepare for it.
We invite you to attend all five classes or choose one, two, three, or four ala carte style. Prices reflect you and your birth partner should you choose to attend together. Classes will be held on Saturday, September 23rd 10AM – 3PM.
If a class does not meet the minimum registration we will notify you via your selected preference in your MBO account.

Car Seat Safety
10:00-11:00
Led by expert Katelyn Jansheski from the Corewell Zeeland Hospital – Lakeshore – Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Injury Prevention team this session covers everything you need to know about different types of car seats: installing a car seat, using the buckles and straps, and securing a baby or child in the seat. Data shows that nearly 80% of all infant car seats are installed incorrectly. Learn the right way to keep your new baby safe.
Katelyn has a Bachelor’s degree in child and family development and was a preschool teacher and child care director for a few years. She has worked with Corewell Health, formerly Spectrum Health, for four years as an Injury Prevention Coordinator. She is a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST)trainer and teacher.

Infant CPR & Safety
11:00-12:00
All caregivers should know the signs of an infant in distress and know how to confidently navigate that situation. Do you know how to respond if your baby is choking? What does labored breathing look like? Is my home safe baby proofed? Infant CPR and safety will leave you feeling confident and prepared. Samantha Kauffman is an experienced RN, Certified in OB, an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), as well as Certified Childbirth Educator for HypnoBirthing and Evidence Based Birth, and an Infant Massage Instructor. Teaching safety/infant CPR is something she has taught for many years both in her childbirth classes and as a separate class. Birth "plan" Writing

Birth is not something that should happen to you. You should be a proactive participant in how your birth unfolds. Information=Choices. If you don’t know what your options are, how can you make informed decisions? No one can predict how your birth will unfold but feeling confident in your preparation is key. Join Heidi McDowell as we create your “plan” for scenarios A, B, C, & D. You will learn options for each scenario and how to use the BRAIN method for decision making. You will leave with a birth “plan” outline created! Heidi McDowell is the owner of Mind Body Baby. PARTNER Comfort Measures FOR LABOR

No matter how your birth unfolds there is a high probability that you will need to use comfort measures to navigate strong sensations or emotions. Join Mandi Rodenbeck of Great Lakes Doulas for in depth class on not just the “why” we feel pain but the “how” to cope through it using mindfulness, wisdom, and hand-on partner support. You and your partner will leave feeling more confident in how to support you during labor and birth.
This is a partner/buddy class.

Infant Feeding basics

Deciding how to feed your baby is a very personal decision that can feel overwhelming. You might have an idea of how you’d like that journey to unfold but your baby might have other plans. Join us for a brief introduction to the basics of breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping, and more. Knowing your evidence-based options will set your mind at ease and allow you to begin your feeding journey with confidence no matter how it unfolds.. Elizabeth is a ProDoula certified Infant Feeding Educator. She has supported multiple parents on their feeding journey by hosting large and small group workshops, private 1:1 feeding workshops, and infant feeding support groups. ala carte: $55.00 Minimum registration of 3 participants required |
